1937 NIMBUS MODEL 750 (Denmark) The Fisker and Nielsen factory of Copenhagen manufactured their second Nimbus motor cycle design between 1934 and 1959. This machine featured a unit construction in-line four-cylinder 750cc engine and three-speed gearbox with a shaft final drive, mounted within a pressed steel cycle frame with telescopic front fork suspension. While quite advanced when first introduced, this model remained virtually unchanged during its entire production period.
The major developments were introduced in 1936, when a foot gear change, heavier telescopic front forks, and larger drum brakes were adopted. Although not produced in any great numbers, about 20 per cent of the 12,715 Nimbus machines produced during this period were adopted by the Danish armed forces between 1937 and 1955. These machines were used both solo and with various sidecars attached with little military modification. The military conversion included a pair of canvas pannier bags, a carrier rack or pillion pan-type saddle mounted on the rear mudguard, and an overall coat of khaki paint.
A number of these machines adopted before the Second World War were also equipped with a machine gun carrying sidecar. Their general characteristics were well suited to military service, and a number were still being used during the late 1970's.
